Odorous House Ants

Odorous house ants (aka Stink ant) gets its name from its habit of spraying a stinky substance when feeling threatened. Other bugs run from this smell but we only encounter this when we crush one. It is said to smell like rotting coconut or blue cheese. This ant doesn’t sting or cause structural damage.

They prefer warm places and moisture. To keep them out of your home, trim plantings away from your house and keep your kitchen crumb free. They prefer to eat sugary foods. Inside that will be your syrups and soda spills, etc. Outside they find this sugar through aphids and nectars.
