Sugar Ants

Sugar ants are small ants you may find in your kitchen. Once they find a sugary food to eat they will be determined to stay there. Besides sweets they will eat whatever food they can find. Because they look for an easy food source, like your home, they are usually found in suburbia. Their colonies are usually outside and they bring their food back to their nests to feed. Like many other types of insects, they prefer warm areas to live.

Sugar ants do not sting but van bite to defend itself. You probably won’t feel the bite and need only concern yourself if you find you are having an allergic reaction. This is very rare.

To help rid yourself of these pests, keep your house clean. Sweep up crumbs, wipe up spills and keep your food sources sealed. If you find yourself with ants you can’t get rid of, call an exterminator to determine the species of ant you have and the proper course of action to take.
